#Phone-a-phobia

Up until last year I suffered from a serious case of #Phone-a-phobia. I hated using my cell phone for anything other than sending/receiving emails and texts. When people would call my cell, I would just text them back with a response like, "hey, whats up?" or "what are you up to?"

Thankfully I overcame this phobia, but I still see many people who remind me of how I once was:

A shy and insecure girl who was scared of picking up the phone because of one of the following reasons:

  • fear of the occurrence of awkward silence(s)
  • apprehensive of stumbling over words (especially when a crush was calling!)
  • apprehensive of sounding stupid or being repetitive
There are clearly more reasons for why people suffer from #Phone-a-phobia, but those few are definitely the frontrunners. What I've noticed more and more, having now overcome my fear, is the different ways people act when they receive a phone-call. Bare with me here...

First, you have the friend who doesn't seem to think that a 25 minute phone-call from a family member would bother every other person in the room. This person decides not to move out of the room to take the call elsewhere, but instead he or she sits there for about a half hour chatting it up (as if everyone needed or wanted to know all the intricate details of his or her life!)

Second, there's the friend who quickly gets up and chooses the quickest exit out of the room. This may make some people suspicious about what the phone-call is about. If it happens all the time, I'd suggest watching this person a little more closely.... you can never be too trusting these days. I may be a little bias when saying that last sentence because of the recent episodes of Revenge and other drama-genre shows I've been watching, but still, be careful!

Finally, you have the friend who is "the pacer." I, undoubtedly, fall under this category. When this person either receives or makes a phone-call it doesn't take more than 5 seconds before they start pacing back and forth across a set-point. For me, I usually pace back and forth in the kitchen, although I've witnessed people in the airport who pace through rows of chairs. To be honest, that type of pacing would just end up making me dizzy, but I give them credit for somehow making it work for them.

No matter what category you fall in, you should be proud that you are able to talk on the phone at all! There are a ton of people in your life that may suffer from this condition and my recommendation to you is to locate them and start calling them repeatedly. Make them feel uncomfortable and after a while the fear will fade away. That's what happened to me and now I have to charge my phone up to 2-3 times a day! After-all the saying, practice makes perfect, applies to everything!

Stay saucy & embrace & face your fears,
Cara

#MANicures

Today I decided to treat myself to a mani-pedi. Now that I'm in the professional world, I can't have sparkles or #blinged-out nails anymore.

Anyways, that is beside the point. While I was sitting in the massage chair preparing for my pedicure, I couldn't help but notice that there was a guy getting his nails done. I don't believe he got an actual nail polish color put on his nails, but the mere sight of him at the nail salon caught me off-guard.

I am not one to judge, but I can't help but think that he must be a very secure man. To be sitting amongst gossiping mothers and young girls just to keep his nails clean interested me.

Apparently, the whole idea of taking a #SpaDay is now becoming a more unisex activity. I have seen many guys getting facials, but seeing a man get his nails filed and cuticles cut in the salon was a first for me!

It is recommended that you get manicures and pedicures done in order to keep up nail-hygiene! Maybe men are just beginning to understand their wives, girlfriends, or daughters more these days. I think it is wonderful that men have become so confident and secure with themselves to take part in some #SpaDay activities, however if they start forming longer bathroom lines, going to the bathroom together or taking #selfies, then I think that is where the line should be drawn.

Stay saucy & treat yourself to a #SpaDay soon,
Cara

#Natural&Nude

Although I am usually promoting the neons and whites to help bring out a bronzed look, this post is focused on showing some love to the color #nude. The best thing about this color is that it works for all seasons. It's hard to pull off a neon top or dress in the winter, and the old rule of not wearing white after Labor Day narrows down some girl's outlook on when they can wear the color.

However, luckily for #nude, you can get away with wearing it throughout all four seasons. Nude nails for the fall are always a great idea. It accentuates the tan you've been working on all summer. Then when it gets colder out and you need to layer up, a nude scarf, nude gloves and nude oversized purse look great with almost every winter-color. Nude colored lips, whether it's just a simple gloss or a nude colored lipstick, are always in and bring out a more natural look! Finally for the spring and summer, a nude wedge is always loved by all.

Nude nails for the fall.

The chill of winter welcomes nude in
all aspects!

Helps to maintain an au-natural look.

Nude wedges are great. They are bound to match with
any outfit and will not cause any #clashing mishaps.

Stay saucy & be natural&nude,
Cara

#MealBreakers

#Mealbreaker (n.): a nasty, non-edible surprise found in food while it is being eaten; often lawsuit-provoking, sometimes fabricated, always disgusting.

After having witnessed many #mealbreakers in my day, it is time to address them and to bring it to the attention of all who package or are in charge of food! After working in a restaurant two summers ago, I'm aware that what goes on behind closed doors, is not always the prettiest of sights.

#Disgusting. No McDonald's for a while.
Today I read an article about a man who found a cockroach in his McDonald's hash-brown. Not only is that so disgusting, but it is also alarming that a potential drive-thru run could end that way for any of us!

I know that when I was younger there was a rat found in the nearest Burger King, but not in the food! I also have seen staples in taco meat and bugs in rice, but nothing that could compare with what this man from McDonald's must have felt.

Another thing that goes along with #mealbreakers are restaurants that have customers without shoes or who look like they have never heard of a shower before. If the environment doesn't look hygienic, or like it attracts the cleanest of people, in most cases -- it isn't and you should probably look up another place to eat.

I just don't really understand why someone would want to walk around unknown surfaces without shoes?! Maybe it's just the #germaphobe in me, but I could never ever fathom doing such a thing.

Stay saucy & always hygienic,
Cara

#CustomCovers

If there is something that I just can't get enough of, it is phone covers! What better way to #CARA-cterize your phone than with your own pink, teal, navy, or Burberry styled phone cover?! There are many beautiful things out there, and phone covers should not be overlooked!

Sure you are walking in the mall and you see the kiosks all the time with the #blinged-out cell phone covers, but do you walk right on by? I will tell you friends, I do not.

No matter if I have a cover on my phone already (which is always the case! you can never be okay with a naked phone) I still give the cart a browse. While I usually do tend to stay away from covers that are too #flashy like the studded and bling-bling ones, I tend to be attracted to the turquoise and hot pinks, or even a traditional white. My newest obsession is the #monogrammed covers! They are so saucy!

I will be a little bias here because I am a proud owner of an #Otterbox, but after having one since August, I have to say it has definitely been the primary reason why my IPhone is still as well kept as it is today! As I mentioned earlier, I am a sucker for the hot pink cover, so it should be no surprise that it is the one I choose to wear on my IPhone today.

Stay saucy & cover up that phone!
